Study projects increases in lightning, wildfire risk for the U.S. Northwest
A new study published in the journal Earth's Future offers detailed projections of lightning across the Western U.S. for the mid-21st century, noting that the largest change is expected in parts of Idaho, Washington and Oregon, with 4-12 more days of lightning per year in some parts of the Rocky Mountains, increasing the wildfire danger for this region.
