National Fire News For Monday, May 8, 2023 – 12 New Large Wildfires Reported

The National Multi-agency Coordinating Group at NIFC increased the National Preparedness Level to PL 2 on May 8th due to an increase in firefighter commitments to the Canadian Interagency Forest Fire Center following a request for handcrews and Incident Management Teams, even as a dozen wildfires burned in Minnesota, Florida, New Mexico, North Carolina, and Nebraska.
