Bushfires have ripped through 2,500 ha of forest reserves in the African nation of Ghana (7); and as India heads into its high fire season, a forest fire on the slopes of Doddabetta Peak, near Ooty, was reported (8). Country Fire Service reported a bushfire in South Australia's Adelaide Hills (11). A bushfire which has already burned 15,000 acres near Northcliffe, Western Australia, is expected to double in size before it's contained (12); but the Department of Environment and Conservation indicated that thick smoke which has plagued Perth could persist through Friday (13).
