California Utility Regulators Delayed Enforcing 2016 Wildfire Law
Despite passage of Senate Bill 1028 in 2016, which requires Pacific Gas & Electric, San Diego Gas & Electric, and Southern California Edison to develop and implement annual wildfire mitigation plans, the California Public Utilities Commission failed to direct the utilities to write the required wildfire mitigation and response plans.
