We are not monitoring brown carbon emissions from wildfires properly
A consortium led by the Environmental Protection Agency has launched the Atmospheric Science and Chemistry Measurement Network (ASCENT), installing advanced instruments, including aethalometers and aerosol speciation monitors, at twelve sites across the United States to monitor brown carbon, which is emitted when organic matter burns inefficiently, such as in wildfires.
