Wildfire NOTD subscriber Bob Zybach, President of NW Maps Co, sent along a Smokey Wire blog post with the following comments: "more US towns have been burned in forest fires in the past 10 years, than in the previous 110 years - and almost all involve USFS lands and most are located in the range of the spotted owl in western Oregon and northern California!"
