Many facing above average wildfire risk in N. America as high summer temps forecast
Following a "quiet" wildfire season in 2023, in which "only" 2.3 million acres burned, the U.S. has gotten off to a fast start, with 1.7 million acres burned this spring, well ahead of the 700,000 acre average by this time of year, and the worst since 2017.
