National Park Service Announces Fiscal Year 2019 Accomplishments To Reduce Wildfire Risks
The National Park Service Deputy Director reported that the agency had treated 230,308 acres of public land during 2019 to reduce the severity of wildfires, using prescribed fire to treat nearly 207,000 acres, and mechanical thinning to treat an additional 24,000 acres.
