Although many areas in Southern California's Angeles National Forest have reopened following 2009's Station Fire, visitors complained that some spots still remain off-limits (1). The Bureau of Land Management estimates that a 751-acre wildfire burning in southwestern Arizona will be contained by Tuesday (2); but the Horseshoe Two Fire, which has burned 38,000 acres near Portal is still only 25% contained (3); the next article providing a brief profile on an Arizona resident who has been promoted to a Program Specialist for USFS Fire and Aviation Management (4). Wildfire NOTD subscriber Dan Ware, Fire Information Officer for New Mexico State Forestry, commented on the worsening fire danger in that state as June approaches (5). Rising temperatures, decreasing humidity, and increasing winds are making for a dangerous wildfire combination in Georgia (12); where the Honey Prairie Fire burning in Okefenokee Swamp expanded to 147,046 acres, firefighters stating that the blaze was now 70% contained (13).
