MILITARY UAVS TO PATROL DISASTERS
An article in Military.com (Air Force UAVs Cleared for Domestic Duty) indicated that the US Air Force has been authorized to use Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to patrol disaster areas. Considering the depleted ranks of heavy air-tankers, this could prove very valuable to fire managers working a large wildfire. If they could be used to patrol high-fire-risk areas as well, the bevy of SEATs (Single-Engine Air-Tankers) could snuff spot fires before they became major fires. Now, if only we could get the SEATs equipped with night-vision goggles, they could snuff fires at night as well... What do you think? Contact me at marcher47@firebomberpublications.com
